Interest in Consciousness
I’m Stuart Hameroff, a physician and researcher at the University Medical Center. I enjoy life in Tucson which has been my home since 1973. My son Harrison works and goes to school in the Phoenix area, my mother Lillian, sister Amy and her husband John live here in Tucson. My wife Samantha Hameroff also works at the Medical Center, and we enjoy many activities together. In free time I like to walk in the desert, swim, play basketball, golf and tennis, ski in the mountains and visit beaches in California, Europe and elsewhere.
My research has enabled me to see a significant portion of the world and meet many interesting people. I’m grateful to my current and past fellow faculty and residents in the Department of Anesthesiology, surgeons and nurses and techs in the operating rooms, my assistant Marjan Macphee, Patti Bergin, artist Dave Cantrell, webmeister Michael Branch, technical support Scott Morgan, as well as my numerous scientific collaborators.
I’m also grateful for past research support from Pfizer-Roerig, NSF, Fetzer Institute and the YeTaDeL Foundation. This section includes a statement about my interest in consciousness, my contact information and curriculum vitae, some personal photos and links to other websites including our Center for Consciousness Studies.
